I was quite speechless when my good friend Eric shared the sad news for independent film fans everywhere – Adrienne Shelley was found dead in her apartment in NYC November 1st.

As if that was not bad enough, she was murdered. Apparently she got into a physical infraction with a construction hand working in the building. After she slapped him he decided it would be a great idea to punch her bloody unconscious, drag her 5’ 2” body back to her apartment and stage a self-hanging in the bathroom from the curtain rod.

Thank God the police saw the bootprint on the toilet seat, followed through and got their man.

It still won’t bring her back, but at least her family will not have to wonder about her ‘suicide’ for the rest of their lives.
