When a person’s aim drifts as often as mine has over the past 8 months it is amazing to see just how simple it would be to get things accomplished if you had a plan from the outset.
I have never really been a huge proponent of planning ahead, getting things done first and playing around later, etc. But over the past several weeks I really have learned to respect the power that comes with thoughtful, organized project planning.
Of course, planning a project doesn’t make it disappear, but at least it gives you an idea of how soon you can make it disappear if you maintain focus.
Thankfully, by design project planning and management software like Open Workbench is able to tell me how far away these moments of accomplishment are even when I DO lose focus for a day or two.
But for now, I feel like I know what I should be doing in a day – not less, and especially not more. Which means that I can take my off hours without feeling anxious or guilty (now OR later).
