Breaking Body Myths: "Stretching the ITB"

Further application of the Alexander Technique has brought on a few new revelations this week as I have carried principles over to walking.

The history behind this change goes back to my freshman year of high school, when I hit my first real challenge to my physical fitness – one which to date I have not really been able to recover from.

Breaking Body Myths: "Stand up straight"

So after a full week of applying th principles of using my spine to hold and head, relax my back and allow the weight of my upper body to rest in the pelvis when I sit… I wondered, while sitting in church – how does a person apply this to standing?

So I stood – being in Orthodox services there are plenty of opportunities to stand for long periods of time.

Breaking Body Myths: "Sit up straight"

First of all, I want to state that I am very much a novice when it comes to having an experience of the Alexander Technique. For those who have never heard of this ‘method’ of thinking about the operation of the body, there are several on-line resources that cover this material in detail.

The simple description is that the Alexander Technique provides a framework for giving your body the atention it needs throughout the day to operate properly. This is, of course, the ideal scenario for anyone who takes the creation story seriously – an excellent place to begin living up to your created purpose is using your body according to its physiological design.

ASUS MyLogo3 Software - BIOS killer?

Since I do generally get good google results for relevant topics, I thought I would share some information that I received from ASUS level 3 tech support.

I recently tried to use the MyLogo3 software package on an M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition motherboard from ASUS. The software is designed to allow you to put your own logo/opening screen into the boot sequence of the motherboard.

La Pavoni Europiccola - Tremendous

This is not something I normally would do, but after looking at my starbucks tally at the end of each month and considering just where things were at with my Delonghi press the button machine, I decided I needed to enter flavor country.

It’s not that the Delonghi was bad, but there is something to be said for the manual process of extracting coffee. It is often said that the Pavoni is for people who drive stick and I think that has got to be true.

Break a coin this Christmas

It’s funny. Every year I have gotten these gold chocolate coins. I remember tearing through the bag growing up – it was chocolate and baby oranges.

Well I was sitting here at my desk and I have always hated eating these things because they are so hard to get out of the foil! I mean you sit there and you look at it and you start peeling around the edges and you finally get one half of the foil off. Then you sit there trying to dig your nails around the foil embedded in the side and it takes like 3 minutes just to get the foil off…

Brief Revelation - the 4T Rule

After having survived my ten year college reunion – which was quite marvelous at the end of the day – I was driving back and found that four words kept echoing in my mind with regard to change and transformation of anything involving human quirks and character.

I dubbed it the 4T rule and it is something that takes a lot of personal pressure off of me when I feel like the quality of things around me (or things I am trying to accomplish) do not live up to the image I have of what they should be.

Projects, Projects Everywhere...

When a person’s aim drifts as often as mine has over the past 8 months it is amazing to see just how simple it would be to get things accomplished if you had a plan from the outset.

I have never really been a huge proponent of planning ahead, getting things done first and playing around later, etc. But over the past several weeks I really have learned to respect the power that comes with thoughtful, organized project planning.
